Learning
About Horses Can Help Your by Gina Marie Hery Equine Enthusiast and Products Consultant
People naturally learn from other animal species by observation. Great horse trainers have observed the true nature of the horse in its natural habitat, preferably in the herd environment. These studies have been used to learn more about how humans can relate to and handle the horse. Some even consider that we are therefore speaking their language, which truly has assisted us in obtaining useful horse training and handling techniques.
To take it a bit further, some people have learned positive ways to interact with each other by the valuable experiences of studying animal languages. One of the more difficult relations is that between the opposite sexes. To better understand women, a man can observe the true nature of the horse and mutually, women can be in more fulfilling situations in these ways:
Body Language is everything! Not just yours, but theirs too. Many who have trouble relating to the opposite sex may have overlooked the importance of body language. It tells you where you stand and it shows others where you are coming from.
Eye contact is very useful. For a few key reasons, looking in the eyes of the one that you are communicating with is highly important. Not only will you be able to detect other body language at the same time, but it helps keep a connection between you and your companion, essentially holding their attention in your direction when they know that your eyes are on them.
Free Spirit! A free spirit can offer a mutual respect, but cannot be extinguished. You may think that you have accomplished true submission, but be sure that the instinctive spirit is drawn toward free flight. “With mutual respect of her beauty and strength, she will carry you with your feet off of the ground.”
The body is a Temple! There are places where you will not be welcomed and need to stay clear of, most of the time. Closeness can offer comfort, but do not take it too far and do not expect too much, as that extra push sometimes will drive them away. Remember that others can only feel your closeness when their own terms are recognized.
The confident leader will have followers. Intuitive senses should be used in determining where we are being led to and by whom. If you know yourself, you can share your strengths with confidence and self-respect. Only when you can treat yourself as an adequate leader, will anyone feel safe to follow you.
Anger and aggression may be a sign of oppression. You cannot fix every problem instantly. Know your own limits and always end on a “good note” to keep a positive tone.
Notice the type of attention that you are looking for. If you are the type of person who just wants a pony sitting in the paddock that dosen’t complain too much when it is alone for long periods at a time, be sure that you are not trying to capture the attention of the lead horse. It is the one who shows magnificent strength in the herd. It is moving about with thoughts on the next challenge. This is the one who is full of energy and will not sit idle while you go to watch that favorite show on TV. Instead you will have someone who cannot wait to find the way to break down the fence and run, every time you are not honoring their wit and strength and beauty.
So remember, your interaction with horses can be a learning experience that will help you in other aspects of your life. Get out there and spend time with that magnificent animal who offers unlimited insight!
